Hi Ryan, I enjoy your site and would love to meet you some day, Ron Strickland

I am still working on lightening my pack weight from normal/heavy to lighter. The main problem I have is a lack of funds to purchase any new lighter equipment. I am experimenting with a rainfly and trying to set it up as a tarp. The shape is hard to work with. Thanks for your comments and information. Lydia

Lightweight Backpacking and Camping never stops challenging me or interesting me. I live in the UK and try to come up with excuses why a tarp and trail shoes would not work, and yet hear I see the authors of this book proving me wrong with their walks taking them to the most challenging back country destinations. Alaska makes Scotland look tame. Ill have to delve in to this book more and put it in to practise.

I purchased your book last year and on receiving it read it from cover to cover in 12 days.

Then I started looking at my kit and thinking what can it do extra. To that I have only purchased a couple of items to lighten the load being a Tarp and lighter rucksack and the rest has been redesignated dual purpose.

I have been out in the UK in bad weather using this kit and it WORKS.

Enjoy your site, very informative.

i am new to this and very interested , love the site and your general approach ,not got book yet but would be interested how some of this approach can work in england, wildcamping is illegal here.....

best regards
david
